Baseball Instruction/All-Star Game

Question
Hi Brian:

I believe there is a rule that every team must be represented in the All Star Game?  The Dodgers had two players on the team this year, Cesar Izturis and Jeff Kent.  If both players were put on the disabled list before the game and were unable to participate, would another Dodger have to be chosen, or would they just be out of luck this year?  Thanks!

Answer
RK,

There is no rule that a replacement has to be from the same team as the injured player - even if that player is the only representative from that team.

Often though, a manager will replace the player with someone from the same team - especially if that is the only representative from that team.

Hope this helps!

Brian
