Baseball Instruction/Winter Ball - which league

Question
My son is 12 years old and his Little League coaches think he is pretty good.  He has several options this winter (we live in Tampa, Florida):  Little League winter ball, try out for some AAU teams, or play pony ball?  He has his sights on playing high school baseball.  He is in 7th grade now.  As you can imagine, in Tampa, Florida baseball is very competitive.  What is your advice?

Answer
Hi Jim,

have you asked your son?  See what he is interested in.  If he is unsure, ask his coach which would be better for him.  It may be better to place in in a league that is not too challenging that would discourage him.  Somewhere that will add to his strengths and correct his weakness.  Take your time and find out which league fits your schedule too.

Best of luck,

I would prefer questions regarding coaching from atom to pee-wee, ages 7 to 14. I have no problems answering questions about coaching other sports. General questions: baseball rules, setting up a little league, establishing emergency action plans, coaching skills, techniques, discipline, rewards, sport/league promotion.
