Question
I hear "walk on hit" or "walk off hone run". What is a "walk on" or "walk off". Thanks for the courtesy of a response.  Tony

Answer
Tony,

I haven't heard the expression 'walk on' relating to baseball so I can't help you there.

'Walk off' home run refers to a homerun that ends the game.  Say a tie breaking homer in the bottom of the ninth.  Some announcers will also use the expression for any offensive action that immediately ends the game.

The expression came about because after the home run players can 'walk off' of the field!

Hope this helps!

Brian
