Baseball Instruction/baserunning rules

Question
What if lead runner misses 2nd base and secondary runner touches 2nd before lead runner.
What is the rule?

Answer
Mike,

There is no ruling by the umpire unless the defensive team appeals.  So, no appeal, no call and everything stands as it did after the play is complete.

If the defensive team appeals (before the next play begins) at the correct base that was missed, then the umpire rules the baserunner out.  All other base runners stay were they are (if that is not the last out of the inning).

Hope this helps!
