Baseball Instruction/No-decisions

Question
Mr. Flaspohler,

Which pitcher has the most career no-decisions?  Also, if possible, which pitcher has left a game the most times with a lead, only to have his bullpen blow the win for him?  These Q's were extremely tough, as I was unable to find them in any search engine.  Thank you!

Answer
Ken,

I don't have the information on which pitcher has left a game the most times with a lead only to have his bullpen blow the win.  You might want to check out Retrosheet.  Search them on the web.  Someone there might be able to help you.

As far as the most career no-decisions.  I don't have a perfect search because I can't separate pitching in relief from starts.  But here's who turned up at the top of my list:
Player            No Decisions
Tommy John          181
Don Sutton          176
Roger Clemens       158
Nolan Ryan          157

All of these guys (except for Clemens) pitched some # of games in relief, so their no decisions are probably actually a bit higher (because decisions in relief I can't subtract).

But this gives you something to play with anyway.

Hope this helps!

Brian
