Question
How do you calculate ERA?  What is sabermetrics?

Answer
JT,

ERA is Earned Runs * 9 / Innings Pitched.

For Example - a pitcher gives up 3 runs in a nine inning complete game.  His ERA = 3 * 9 / 9 = 3.00

Sabermetrics is the study of baseball statistics.  The name was coined from the name of the group SABR (Society of American Baseball Researchers).

Hope this helps!
