Question
a ball hit in the air down the leftfeild line would have landed in foul territory but the left feilder reached across the line and touched it he was in fair territory but the ball still landed in foul territory is it fair or foul

Answer
Cliff,

It is the position of the ball, and NOT the fielder that determins whether the ball is fair or foul. If the ball is in fair territory, then its fair, and if its in foul territory, its foul.

In your situation, the ball(if in the umpire's judgement it was indeed foul) would be called a foul ball.
