Baseball Instruction/interference calls

Question
Runner on 3rd and ther is a past ball.  As the catcher turns and flips the ball to the pitcher the ball hits the batter who was trying to duck.  The runner was called out.  What is the correct ruling?

Answer
Hi Tommy,

seems the umpire felt that the batter interferred with the play.  May have been a bad call but how do you argue with an ump?  I'm not sure if the batter had time to step away from all of this and my guess is that the umpire felt that he could have avoided this.

Hope this helps,
