Baseball Instruction/pitcher's wins

Question
How many innings does a pitcher have to complete to receive a win for that game? (ie: the team won the game but the starting pitcher only pitched 6 innings, does he get the win?)

Answer
Fan,

The starting pitcher has to pitch five innings in order to qualify for the win.  However, relievers can get a win as long as they are in the game when their team takes a lead that it doesn't relinquish.  So relievers have no minimum requirement.

Hope this helps!
