Question
OK Bases loaded no outs. Batter in place. Pitcher pitches low, ball hits homebase and bounces. Batter swings and hit ball. Ball hits ground in front of pitcher, bounces and pitcher catches ball. Umpire calls batter out.Umpire says fly ball no bounce. People are saying it's a dead ball because it bounced at home plate prior to hit. Can't find any ruling on this. WE ARE MINOR LEAGUE LITTLE LEAGUE. Please HELP!!!

Answer
Melissa,

It is not a dead ball.  However, if the ball bounced after the batter hit it, but before the pitcher caught it, it isn't a fly ball.  The umpire missed this one.

I'm not sure how this will help - the umpire's judgement stands and the game is long over I presume...
