Question
for an official game can the childs father help him hit the ball?( because after 12 tries he could not hit the ball, I am under the impression that 3 strikes are all thats allowed.)

Answer
Hi Tanja,

its really up to the league that the child belongs too.  For some 7 year olds, maybe having Dad help will be a good thing, for others, it could make things more difficult.

I suggest that if your 7 year old is having batting problems, buy him his own bat and let him practice in the back yard as often as he wants.  This will help him get better.

Usually, 3 strikes and the batter is 'out'.  Some leagues will give the batter 3 strikes and then bring in a T-ball stand to help him or her hit.  Its better than having mom or dad do the batting and it helps the child with his aim.

Maybe you can suggest this with your childs coach.  T-ball stands are not expensive and it does wonders to a child's confidence.

Best of luck,

I would prefer questions regarding coaching from atom to pee-wee, ages 7 to 14. I have no problems answering questions about coaching other sports. General questions: baseball rules, setting up a little league, establishing emergency action plans, coaching skills, techniques, discipline, rewards, sport/league promotion.
