Baseball Instruction/Does the run count?

Question
Babe Ruth baseball...runner on third, two outs.  Runner on third steals home, he slides safely across home plate just prior to the batter hitting a fly ball to first base which is caught for the 3rd out.  Does the run count?

Answer
Hi Steve,

tough call.

I'd say the run does not count.  I would think its all within the same 'play'.  Umpire calls to pitcher to begin...runner then steals home; pitcher throws, runner touches plate; batter fly-out to first.

You'll have to consult your local league rules on this one:

I would prefer questions regarding coaching from atom to pee-wee, ages 7 to 14. I have no problems answering questions about coaching other sports. General questions: baseball rules, setting up a little league, establishing emergency action plans, coaching skills, techniques, discipline, rewards, sport/league promotion.
