hi there,
I have a question about whether or not a runner hit by a ball that is thrown by a player is automatically out.
Situation:
Batter hits a nubber in front of the catcher and begins to run to 1st base. The pitcher fields the ball, throws to 1st base, and the runner is hit on the side. Is he out?

According to (Little League)rule 7.08 (a), a runner is entitled to that bag to which they are advancing, and may be called out for running three feet either way of an established basepath. Should an errant throw hit them, they are not out, as they are still advancing, by the rules, to the bag.
In your situation, the runner is not out, and the ball is not dead and is still in play.
