Baseball Instruction/scorekeeping

Question
I keep score frequently and I came across a situation that I did not know how to record in the book. man on second and third, batter flies out to center. man on third base tags up runs hoe, in the meantime man on second did not tag up so he was out which made the third out. How would this be scored?    Thank you, Kathy White

Answer
Kathy,

The score in the book would be double play out 8-(either 5 or 6) depending on who covered second on the throw).  If the runner scored before the man on second was tagged out, then I'd score it a sacrifice fly by the batter but it would still be scored 8-5.

Hope this helps!
