Baseball Instruction/All-star game in Cincinnati

Question
Been wondering about this one for a while: Most MLB All-Star locations are arranged as to showcase new ballparks. Cincinnati has not hosted an All-Star game since 1988. Their new park has been running since 2003, and they're not scheduled anytime soon (at least thru 2007). Any idea why?

Answer
Charlie,

I don't know specifically why Cincy has not been tagged to host an All Star Game.  I do know that the ownership of the team that hosts has to be willing to host the game.  The St. Louis Cardinals (as crazy a baseball team that there is) haven't hosted an All-Star game since 1966.  Most of that time, the team was owned by Anheiser Busch Brewery and the brewery didn't want to host the game.  Now, the new ownership is interested and with a new stadium on line next season, the All Star game is coming soon.

So it may be that Cincinnati ownership just isn't pushing for the game.  But that is just speculation on my part.

Hope this helps!
