Baseball Instruction - How to stop turning my wrist when throwing

Expert: Willie Ansley Jr. - 9/13/2007

Question
Hi Coach, I have been catching since I am 5 years old. I sometimes turn my wrist when I throw the ball to second base. I am trying very hard to keep it in my mind to throw correctly, but sometimes in the heat of the moment it comes out naturally. I am 12 years old.  Also, I am strugging offspeed and outside balls. How can I improve hitting those pitches?  Thanks so much.

Answer
When you say turning your wrist which way do you mean? To improve on hitting off speed pitches and outside pitches try to think hit the ball back up the middle. This will allow you to stay back longer and see the ball.Do alot of tee work.Set the ball outside and work on hitting it the otherway.
