Question
What was the name of the catcher from the Dodgers who dropped the third strike in the 6th game of the world series between the Dodger and Yankees.  Hugh Casy was pitching. I think the year was in the late forties.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Jim,

The year was 1941, and the catcher was Mickey Owen, and it was in the 9th inning of the 4th game. The miscue allowed the Yankees to score 4 runs and put the game on ice. It's long been suspected that the pitch from Hugh Casey was a spitter.
