I read that Mickey Mantle went from home to first base in 3.1 seconds.Do you know if this is true.If so he could really fly

 He ran like a bullet. I'm sure that this is true, although I cannot document the fact. I remember seeing the Mick play on TV many times. He and Mays were almost universally recognized as the fastest guys in the sport. If Mantle had played in an era where the stolen base was employed more frequently, who knows how many power-speed records he would have set?
