Subject: RBI

Question
If a run scores on a Fielder's choice, does the batter earn an RBI?  Also, I am pretty sure that if a run scores on an error allowing the batter to reach first base, then no RBI is earned.  Is that correct?  thanks

Answer
I do believe you are correct. I know that in order for the batter to recieve a RBI, it has to be a productive at-bat. Runs scoring on an error cannot be considered an RBI. One that I do not agree with, and I think should be changed is not counting walks as at-bats. I think the OBP and average should be reflected including walks because I think walks are very productive however, the batter does recieve an RBI if he walks with the bases loaded. Hope this helps.
