Question
hey Tom,

What is the most runs given up by a pitcher who still received the win for the game?

Answer
Chris,

I have not been able to nail this down definitively, but I have got some information for you. The most runs I can discover a pitcher giving up and still winning is 10. Three times I've been able to find:

Russ Ortiz, SF Giants vs Mil Brewers, 21 May 2003
Vida Blue, SF Giants vs. SD Padres, 19 April 1979
Bob Friend, Pit Pirates vs. ??, ?? 1954

I will keep looking; something tells me the number has to be bigger.
