AboutTom Schott Expertise I will deal with the major leagues only from 19th century to present. I`m good on baseball history, records, statistics, ballparks. Try to stick to on-the-field stuff. I`m not interested in personal off-the-field stuff like spouses, girl friends, drug habits, salaries, mascots, etc. If you already know the answer to the question, please don't ask it. I don't want to play "stump the expert."
Experience I've written on the subject, and I have substantial library of resources.
Publications Numerous encyclopedia, newspaper, magazine articles. One book, several book chapters.
Question Tom, I have a friend turning 60 this wk. He thinks his grandfather played for a professional baseball team in Louisville, Ky. Can you possibly find out if a "Harston" was on any Louisville team? It would be a great surprise if I could find any history on his grandfather for his b-day. Thanks for any help.
Answer Michael,
Louisville had a major league team from 1876-77 and 1882-99. I'm sorry to tell you that no player named "Harston" played for them during this time. In fact, no player with this last name ever played in the majors at any time. Sorry, but there is no way for me to check any minor league Louisville team rosters.
