Baseball Trivia (General)/fair or foul

Question
If a ball is hit right back to the pitchers mound and hits the pitching rubber without touching the pitcher and it goes into foul territory, is the ball fair or foul????

Answer
The ball is foul.  I'm betting if this happened in a game the crowd, coaches and players would have a fit.

The ball didn't pass first or third in fair territory.  It's just the same as if the ball hit a small rock and "kicked" foul.

Hope that answers your question.
