Baseball Trivia (General) - Miost SH, 2000-2009

Expert: Tom Schott - 10/8/2009

Question
I was looking for who has the most sacrifice hits from 2000-2009 and can't find a stat engine website that will let me sort this out. I was on mlb.com, but they separate out by position and team so a player's true totals aren't matched in (I can't see 1B-OF Albert Pujols true totals blended in nor can I view someone like Juan Pierre who played for multiple teams blended in.

Is there a free site that allows this?

Answer
Christopher,

Here is a list of the top half dozen guys who got the most sacrifice hits from 2000-2009. Note that three of them played only 9 of the 10 years.

Cnt Player             SH From  To   Ages
+----+-----------------+---+----+----+-----+
   1 Omar Vizquel      113 2000 2009 33-42
   2 Juan Pierre       110 2000 2009 22-31
   3 Luis Castillo     102 2000 2009 24-33
   4 David Eckstein     94 2001 2009 26-34
   5 Tom Glavine        92 2000 2008 34-42
   6 Jack Wilson        90 2001 2009 23-31

There is no free site that I know of on the Web to get you this information. I pay a small sum each year to baseball-reference.com for something called the "Play Index" which allows me to slice and dice individual and team statistics in a zillion different ways. This search here took about 30 seconds.

Cheers,
Tom
