Many, many, many times has this been done. Every team in the big leagues has been involved.

Let me give you an idea: Between 1956 and 2008, there were over 800 9-inning games where ONE team got 20 hits all by itself. I didn't even look at games where a team had 19, 18, 17, etc. hits. These would produce hundreds more games where both teams got 30+ hits.

Here are just a few random ones:
