Question
In recent history has a national league pitcher ever won a game by throwing a shut-out and scoring his teams only run en-rout to a 1-0 victory? And has a pitcher ever recieved a loss although he pitched a no-no, ie; walked batter steals and scores on errant pitch?---buggin me for a year or so.

Answer
Mark,

The pitcher scoring his team's only run while pitching a shutout has happened several times, most recently on 16 September 2008. Odalis Perez of the Washington Nats scored the only run in a game against the Mets.

And the other event has also happened recently, also last year, although in that case, two pitchers combined for a no-hitter, and one of them lost the game. This was on 28 June 2008, LA Angels at LA Dodgers. Two LA Angel pitchers--Jared Weaver & Jose Arrendondo--held the LA Dodgers hitless for 8 innings, but lost the game. The lone run was unearned, and scored on an error, a stolen base, and a SAC fly. Weaver took the loss.
