Question Over time, in what inning in MLB are the most runs scored?
I have heard it is the 1st but have no data to support that.
Answer Peter,
You are correct. It is the first inning, by far. I ran a check on the years 1954, 1960, 1965, 1970, and 2004-2008. In every one of these years, more runs were scored in the 1st inning than in any other, and by substantial margins. I'm sure this is what we would find if we ran all the years, or picked any one at random.
