Question I am curious to know if more grand slams are hit on a 3-2 count than any other?
Answer Randy,
I picked ten teams at random for the 2008 season and checked to see what the count was when each of the team's HRs was hit. There are eleven possible counts. Not one of the ten had a 3-2 count any higher than 3rd on the list, and for most, the 3-2 count was further down.
Examples of where 3-2 count ranked on list of possible counts for HR in 2008. (x) = number of grand slams for the season.
Giants 6th on the list (1)
O's 5th on the list (3)
Braves 4th on the list (2)
Phillies 3rd on the list (2)
Tigers 3rd on the list (6)
Rangers 4th on the list (8)
Nationals 7th on the list (4)
Which leads us to conclude that most grand slams are hit on a count other than 3-2.
