Need to find history of a player named lefty whitlock I dont know his first name. He was a first baseman for the giants about 1950

I'm not certain but you may be referring to Whitey Lockman - a left-handed first baseman who played for the NY Giants in the 1950's

Lockman was on base when Bobby Thomson hit his "shot heard round the world"

Whitey Lockman had a 15 year major league career.
