Baseball Trivia (General)/Question about Run Scoring on a Balk

Question
The other night a Kansas City pitcher balked home a Cleveland runner from third base.  Two questions about the run that scored:

    1.  Is it an "earned run"?

    2.  Is anyone credited with an RBI?

Thanks .........  Jim

Answer
Hi, Jim.

1. I cannot tell you whether the run is earned or not without knowing what the play-by-play for that inning is. How the runner on third actually got on base in the first place and how he advanced to third and how many outs there are in the inning all could matter in determining whether the run is earned.

2. No RBI is associated with a balk.
