Question
Jackie Robinson is said to be the first negro to break the color barrier, but he was 4th or 5th. Who came before him from the old Negro league? Also it's rumored that someone from the old Negro League actually hit a fair ball out of Yankee Stadium, Who was this man

Answer
Hi Craig,

Thanks for writing.

Back before 1900 there were many black players in the minor leagues.  Fleetwood Walker was the first black player to play in the white Major Leagues.  This happened back in 1883.

Here's a link to an interesting article about the history of the Negro Leagues:

Josh Gibson is the Negro League star who is rumored to have hit a baseball out of Yankee Stadium.

Here's a link to a story about that:

Best Wishes,

Geoff
