Question
Why aren't aluminum bats allowed
in the MLB, what is the size limits for wooden bats in the MLB

Answer
According to the Official Rules:

1.10 (a) The bat shall be a smooth, round stick not more than 2 3/4 inches in diameter at the thickest part and not more than 42 inches in length. The bat shall be one piece of solid wood.

As for aluminum bats, my guess is that aluminum was not manufactured at the time that baseball began in this country, and wood was chosen as the official material for bats.
