Baseball Trivia (General)/Doubleheaders: Splits and Sweeps

Question
I'm wondering how often doubleheaders have been swept vs. split in the history of baseball, or at least any info on what the trend tends to be.  One would think the home team would have an advantage here, but I'm curious as to whether or not this has been the case historically

Thanks,

Allan

Answer
Allan,

Although I don't have any hard data--I've looked for a while--I can venture an educated guess. I think there would be a slight, slight but detectable, advantage to the home team on this question over the course of baseball history. But that's just my thinking. Bottom line is: good teams win on the road, bad teams lose at home too. So it would take a large sample to cause any significant deviation from that.

 Hope this helps.

Tom
