Question How high is a major league pitcher's mound? And can it be changed between games? Is the height set?
Answer Hi Pete,
The rules of baseball specify that the mound cannot be any higher than 15 inches. The height of the mound is set. In 1969, the mound was lowered to the standard height of today: 10 inches. It cannot be changed during the game. Theoretically, the mound could be lower than ten inches, but in practice, this is not done. The higher the mound, the better for the pitcher.
