Question Who has the most career hits without ever hitting a home run? How many hits did he have?

Unfortunately, records about not hitting home runs are in terms of most at-bats without a home run, not in terms of how many other types of hits did they get.
In that regard, Rabbit Maranville in 1922 set the record for most at-bats in a season without hitting a home run: 672. He had 198 hits that season but none were home runs.
