What is the highest number of pitches ever thrown in ONE INNING?

Thanks for writing.

Baseball today is tracked pitch by pitch.  Prior to the mid-1980's though, it was not.  Therefore no one knows how many pitches were thrown in any particular inning in games for the first 100 plus years of Major League Baseball history.  So there is no record for most pitches thrown in an ining.
