Baseball Trivia (General) - Run scoring record

Expert: Geoff - 7/6/2007

Question
What is the record for most runs scored in a double header by both teams. What were the teams and scores.

Answer
Hi Evan,

Thanks for writing.

The record for most runs scored by both teams in a double-header is 54.  This has happened twice.

On 7/4/1939 the Red Sox swept the A's 17 to 7, and 18 to 12.
On 8/21/1894 the Braves swept the Reds 18 to 3, and 25 to 8.

Best Wishes,

Geoff
