Question
Looking for the record for most consecutive walks by a pitcher. Does not have to be in one game.

The best I can come up with is most consecutive bb in an inning, which probably answers your question:
AL--7--Bill Gray, Washington, August 28, 1909, 1st game, 2nd inning
NL--6--Bill Kennedy, Brookly, August 31, 1900, 2nd inning.

| Comment | I've asked this question for years. Even the historians at Cooperstown and the experts at the Sporting News were unable to give a solid reason for the 'dropped third strike' rule. I suspect that the rule evolved from ancient baseball history when a batter may have been permitted to run after ANY pitch. Alas, the research proved too tedious even for me, so I remain - Perplexed in Florida Thanks for answering! Mike | ||
