Derek Jeter didn't become the Yankees every day shortstop until 1996. Prior to that the Yankees had a different guy every year from 1991 to 1995:

1995 Tony Fernandez
1994 Mike Gallego
1993 Spike Owen
1992 Andy Stankiewicz
1991 Alvaro Espinoza
