Question
Who holds the record for the most homeruns in a single season after he turned 40?  41?  42?

Answer
Hi George,

Thanks for writing.

The answer kind of depends upon on how you want to define a player's age.  Barry Bonds, for instance, turned 43 last month but I am considering his 2007 season to be "a single season after he turned 42".

Record for most home runs in a single season by a:

40 year old:  Dave Winfield and Hank Sauer 26 home runs
41 year old:  Ted Williams 29
42 year old:  Barry Bonds 24 and counting (old record was held by Carlton Fisk with 18 home runs)

Best Wishes,

Geoff
