Question
Who is the player in the mid-70s who played in 105 games and scored 33 runs but had no official at bats?

Answer
Hi Chris,

Thanks for writing.

That would be Herb Washington of the Oakland A's.

Washington was an accomplished track start that A's owner Charlie Finley signed thinking he'd make a great pinch-runner.  During all of the 1974 season and part of 1975 that's all Washington did: pinch-run from time to time.  He never came to bat, nor play in the field.  He did however get a World Series ring for being part of the 1974 World Champion Oakland A's.

He was successful in 31 of 48 stolen base attempts to go along with his 33 runs scored.

Best Wishes,

Geoff
