Baseball Trivia (General) - cubs short stops

Expert: Geoff - 6/26/2007

Question
Do you know the name of the cub short stop with the initials C.D. and when he played. I was at a charity event when this young looking african-american was introduced as a chicago cub player (former). Can you let me know.

Answer
Hi Lori,

Thanks for writing.

The Cubs have only had a handful of players with the initials CD play for them.  The only one who played during the past 60 years though is Courtney Duncan in 2001-2002, but he was a pitcher, not a shortstop.

The player you are describing sounds like long-time Cub shortstop Shawon Dunston.  He was the Cubs shortstop from 1985 to 1997.

Here's a link to a picture of him:

Best Wishes,

Geoff
