Watching the Braves vs St Louis tonight and at the bottom of the fifth they have 17 hits so far.  Can you tell me what the most hits in a game is by combined players. No extra innings

Howdy- the most hits in a nine-inning game by one team is 36, Philadelphia vs. Louisville, 17 August 1894.  The most hits in a game since 1900 is 31, accomplished by the New York Giants (vs. Cincinnati, June 9 1901) and the Milwaukee Brewers (vs. Toronto, 28 August, 1992).  The most hits by both teams in a nine inning game is 51, 26 by the Phillies and 25 by the Cubs, 25 August, 1922.  It seems like August is the big month for big hits in a game.
