Question
can you lose a no hitter and what are the ways you can lose them

Answer
Hi Chris,

Thanks for writing.

By "lose a no hitter" I'm assuming you mean lose the game despite pitching a complete game and not giving up any hits.

There are lots of ways for a team to score a run without getting a base hit.  Fielding errors, walks, hit batters, sacrifice flies, etc. all are ways to either get on base or move a runner up.  Imagine a pitcher walking 3 guys in a row and then a fielder makes an error and 2 or 3 runs score.  If the pitcher's team gets shut out, then the losing pitcher can pitch a complete game no-hitter but still get the loss.

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes,

Geoff
