Question QUESTION: Who holds the record for most home runs in one particular ball park and how many?
ANSWER: Hi Jeff,
Thanks for writing.
There is no "record" per se for most home runs hit in one ballpark. Although I was not able to determine the number, it would seem that Babe Ruth and Yankee Stadium would be the combination that had the most home runs.
Over 600 of Ruth's home runs came while he played his home games in Yankee Stadium. I was unable to find a list of Ruth's home runs by ball park though.
Among active players, Sammy Sosa and Wrigley Field have the most. 293 of Sosa's home runs came in Wrigley Field.
Best Wishes,
Geoff

QUESTION: Hi Thanks for your quick response. While I am not sure myself, I believe Mike Schmidt is the answer, only because Babe Ruth played in Yankee Stadium from 1923 -1934 and had a total of 511 home runs in that span. Mike Schmidt played all his home games at the Vet from 1972 -1989 and had 548 lifetime home runs. Please verify if you can. Thank you so much.
Answer Hi Jeff,
One last follow-up to this...
Apparently, during Ruth's career with the Yankees he hit
334 home runs at home, and 325 on the road. Of these 659 home runs as a Yankee, 148 came before Yankee Stadium was opened. Assuming an even split he probably hit 260-270 home runs in Yankee Stadium. Far less than Sosa's 293 at Wrigley Field which might turn out to be the answer after all!
