Question
Bobby Cox just broke John McGraw's record for manager ejections.  (Actually, he already had the record since McGraw had been tossed ten times as a player) But this begs the question, Who holds the ejection record as a player?

Answer
Hi Mark,

Thanks for writing.

Records for ejections seem a little fuzzy - not quite an exact science - but this link:

http://www.baseballlibrary.com/columns/column.php?id=25

seems to have a very credible sense to it.  It awards the record of most player ejections to Bill Dahlen.  History knows(?) he was ejected 65 times during a lengthy playing career (1891-1911) and a fairly brief managing career (1910-1913), but doesn't seem to have exact details on how many of those 65 were as a player and how many as a manager (to complicate things more, he was a player manager briefly as well).

Hope this helps!

Best Wishes,

Geoff
