Question The MN Twins are currently wrapping up the second game of a doubleheader.
They won the first 20-14, and lead the second 12-0. Is there a record for most
runs scored in one day, rather than one game?
Answer Hi Scott,
Thanks for writing.
The 32 runs the Twins scored is close to, but not the American League record for most runs scored in a double-header. That record is held by the 1937 Tigers. They scored 36 runs in their double-header against the St. Louis Browns that day.
The major league record is 43 set by the 1894 Boston Braves.
Most runs scored by both teams in a double-header is 54, held by those same 1894 Braves whose 43 runs combined with the Reds 11 runs totaled 54. This was matched by a 1939 Red Sox and A's double-header that Boston swept 17 to 7, and 18 to 12.
