Question
throughout the history of major league baseball, which pitcher has the most in game strikeouts?

Answer
Hi Mike,

Thanks for writing.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by "the most in game strikeouts".

If you mean most strike outs in 1 game, the record for a 9-inning game is 20, held by Roger Clemens and Kerry Wood.  The record for an extra inning game is 21 held by Tom Cheney (the game lasted 16 innings).

The record for most strike outs in a career is held by Nolan Ryan.  He struck out a total of 5714 batters during his amazing career.

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes,

Geoff
