Question
I do not understand how .30c + 2000 + .60c + .06c = $50,000

One person said c = .04, but I don't understand how to get the .04.  I get that 2000/.04 = 50,000, just not how to get the .04.  Thanks!

Answer
You have to solve for c.  In order to do that, start by combining like terms, so you get 2000 + .96c = 50000.  Now in order to isolate c, you need to "undo" everything that has been done to it, so first, subtract 2000 from both sides  .96c = 48000.  Next, divide both sides by .96, so c = 50000 (c does NOT = .04)  If C = .04, then your equation would be
.30(.04) + 2000 + .60(.04) + .06(.04) = $50,000
.012 + 2000 + .024 + .0024 = 50000
2000.0384 = 50000, which is obviously false.
