QUESTION: . ratio of the father and son is 5:3 the sum of their
age is 40.what will be the ratio of their age after 6 years
can you explain the answer step by step

Answer
The ratio is 5:3, so that means 5x + 3x = 40, 8x = 40, x = 5.  That means, currently, the father's age is 25 and the child's is 15 (not very logical in the real world unless you're Michael Landon and adopt a child that is only 10 yrs younger than you).  Regardless, in 6 years, the father will be 31 and the child 21, so the ratio is 31:21 (not reducible)
