can you tell me how to calculate a weightee average for
the problem below.
subject max marks marks scored
maths       200         150                       Science     100         50

To calculate the weighted average, you need to see which values are the 'weight' and 'score'

Now from the question, 200 and 100 are the weights. As for the score, they are 100 and 50.

Now you can calculate the weighted average by:

1. Multiply each score by its weight:
=>   200(150) + 100(50)


2. Multiply and add the above:  
=>  30000 + 5000
   = 35000

3. Now, add all the weight to get the total weight.
=>  200 + 100 = 300

4. Divide the 35000 by the total weight
=> 35000/300
  = 116.67  <--Answer
